About Adrian Hand
I became a driving instuctor after retiring from the police service in Nottingham, where I served as a Police Officer for 30 years. During my career I had numerous roles which included working for 7 years as a Youth/Schools' Officer, where I actually taught school lessons as well as sessions in Colleges and Youth Organisations around Nottingham. It was during this period that I studied for and attained a Certificate of Education (Further Education and Training). More recently I worked as part of the Roads Policing Department where as an advanced driver, my duties included high speed response and pursuit driving, attending and investigating Road Traffic Collisions and working with other "partner agencies" involved in road safety campaigns, especially those aimed at young drivers.
I consider myself as "more than your average driving instructor" as I have a wealth of people skills, driving and teaching experience built up over 30 years. I keep myself up to date in the driver training profession by attending numerous seminars and training sessions, as part of my Continuing Professional Development (CPD). This ensures my pupils receive the best training possible.
I am a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (I A M) www.iam.org.uk and the Approved Driving Instructors National Joint Council (ADINJC) www.adinjc.org.uk. I am also a keen advocate of driver training through coaching and have attended courses to enable me to use these skills while teaching people to drive.
Why Adrian Hand Driver Training?
I was trained to be a driving Instructor by Lynne Barrie, one of the most highly-qualified driving instructors and driving instructor trainers in the country.
As well as being a professional driving instructor (ADI), I am a qualified teacher (post 16) and have a professional driving career of nearly 30 years. I call upon these skills and qualifications to enable students to attain their goals in a safe learning envirnonent.
Why have I chosen a Ford Fiesta for your learning Process?
I have chosen the Fiesta for several reasons;
It's very frugal to run and has a low CO2 emissions . It is comfortable and stylish and has an NCAP 5 star safety rating which is the highest award available. Having tested many alternative cars, I feel the Fiesta offers excellent all-round visibility from the drivers seat and is very easy to drive. It is an ideal car for learning to drive.
